Agriculture advisor is engaged, for example, in cereal, potato, fruit or berry cultivation. He plans the organisation of field work, stockpiling of animal feed and drawing up seed plans. In addition to managing field work, he also has the task of organising daily work. It may also organise variety comparison tests for the company, develop production technologies, improve existing technologies and introduce new technologies. It shall monitor, collect and provide data on plant production, including reporting in accordance with the relevant format. He/she may also be responsible for filling in the support documents of the Agricultural Registers and Information Board (PRIA) and submitting them in time.

Consultant is a specialist engaged in advisory activities in rural development, agriculture and other areas of rural development, including fisheries. It advises individual clients, groups, organisations, stakeholders and communities on general or specialised issues related to rural development. Based on the field of his specialisation, the consul will forward regulated information to the client and guide the client, taking into account his needs, wishes, opportunities and limitations.

As an advisor for agriculture and fisheries, 400 people will work, the number of employees will increase slightly in the future.There will be enough graduates to fill jobs, but more professionals with higher education will be needed.

Agriculture and fisheries advisory should have a professional or higher education. Agronomists in Estonia are not currently trained in a separate curriculum. Professionals with practical experience in plant production have been evaluated among employers.
