Internal Security
Internal security includes the work of the Emergency Response Centre, the Police and Border Guard Board, the Rescue Board, the Tax and Customs Board, security companies, the prison...
Internal security jobs are primarily affected by technological change, the introduction of new forms of work, the transformation of values and work cultures, demographic change, internationalisation and new developments in the economy.
Internal security requires dedicated and highly motivated employees with impeccable backgrounds, willingness to work with people, good stress tolerance and adaptability. In addition, voluntary rescuers, assistant police officers, neighbour's guard, etc. are involved.
Nearly 12,800 people are employed in the area of internal security, most of them in security companies, the Police and Border Guard Board and the Rescue Board. In the future, the number of employees in internal security as a whole will decrease, in particular, fewer employees will be needed in security companies, where more technological solutions will be introduced.
In contrast, security technicians will be needed in the future by half and fire safety specialists by up to twice as many. There is also a slight increase in the number of jobs in the occupations of police investigators and analysts, district police officers, law enforcement officers and demining officers.
The graduates with special education are not enough to fill the jobs of the future. Personnel are particularly lacking in the prison service, the Emergency Response Centre and the Police and Border Guard Board. Good job opportunities await voters in the field of security engineering.
