Youth monitoring means that existing data about young people and the services provided to them are monitored and assembled and missing data collected. The objective of this monitoring is to come to knowledge-based decisions in youth policy. To take care of and nurture our young people we must be aware of:
- what young people need;
- what the situation of young people is like compared to other members of society; and
- what problems and challenges young people are facing.
Youth monitoring provides relevant and up-to-date information about areas related to the lives of young people. It helps us evaluate the situation of young people and youth work, take aspects related to young people into consideration when developing and improving policies and services for young people and assess the possible impact of policy changes.
