During the ten months of the programme, preparation for the role of headmaster is obtained through the acquisition of knowledge and skills and networking with like-minded people, experts in the field from Estonia and abroad. Learned, among other things, through the implementation of job eclipses, study visits, coding and school management tasks. In doing so, participants have the opportunity and responsibility to contribute to the formation of the learning process.

The participants in the program have not previously worked as a school principal, but are highly motivated to take on the role of school leader in the coming years. Everyone has a master's degree or corresponding qualifications and at least two years of experience working as a teacher or other management experience.

The school leaders' follow-up program was initiated by the Ministry of Education and Research and is being implemented in cooperation with the Education and Youth Office within the framework of the Lifelong Learning Strategy Programme "Frequent and motivated teachers and heads of educational institutions" from the European Social Fund funds.
